The Faculty of Behavioural Sciences had started within the SGT Hospital as part of the School of Medical Sciences in 2013, with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science course in Clinical Psychology within a traditional Annual scheme in order to cater to the mental health needs and the huge gap in availability of trained Clinical Psychologists. The aim of these courses was to equip students with the knowledge of abnormality and deviance and the skills to be able to understand, assess and treat conditions of mental illness. The first Board of studies held in 2013 had also recommended starting PhD courses and the first doctoral student in Behavioural Sciences was registered in January 2014. The Faculty of Behavioral Sciences (FBS) was formally established as an independent entity in 2014. The department embraces participatory, experiential, discursive and student-centric practices in its teaching-learning endeavors. In 2017-18, an Honors degree course in Psychology, i.e., B.A. (Hons.) Psychology was also introduced to incorporate non-Clinical courses such as counseling, organizational behavior, social psychology, Rehabilitation Psychology, Psychology of elderly, Neuro-psychology and Psychology of elderly. The M.Phil program (2 year duration) started in 2017 and Professional Diploma in Clinical Psychology (1 year duration) that was started in 2019 were also the part of Department of Clinical Psychology. FBS under SGT University fulfills this responsibility with the help of highly trained faculty, OPD/IPD facilities, state of the art diagnostic tools, psychiatric services and latest infrastructure.
