About
Prof. Waheeda Khan earned her PhD. Degree in 1991 in the area of experimental psychology, was awarded post-doctoral fellowship by UGC from 1983-88, and started her teaching career in 1990 at Jamia Millia Islamia (Central University). Along with teaching responsibilities she has been instrumental in designing new courses, looking after centres of women studies and University guidance and counselling centres (2009-14). In 2015, she accepted an offer to serve as Dean of the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences at SGT University; since 2021, she has held the position of Adviser at the same institution. She has supervised 33 PhD. Scholars, including students from India, UK, Iran, and Pakistan. She was awarded UGC-UKIERI Thematic Partnership International Project (2014-16) in collaboration with The Open University & University of Exeter, UK and another project on Autism Spectrum Disorder funded by DST, Govt. of India (2019-23). She has worked as visiting research fellow at Open University, visiting Professor at Helwan University, Cairo, Egypt, visiting faculty at UTM Malaysia, and visiting scientist, The Albert Einstein Medical College, USA. She has trained number of counsellors in providing HIV AIDS counselling and received number of awards including “ICONIC Health Psychologist” (IAHP). She is an ardent traveller whose experiences have influenced the lives of numerous students in academics, research, and training.
