The objectives of the programme was to make the students feel comfortable in their new environment, open them up, set a healthy daily routine, create bonding in the batch as well as between faculty and students, develop awareness, sensitivity and understanding of the self, people around them, societies and cultural clubs, and festivities of the university at large. The students with their great enthusiasm reported to the campus.
Day 1: The programme was inaugurated by a welcome song followed by an inaugural speech by Dr. Prof Rajbir Singh, Associate Dean aimed to enhance students’ familiarity with the faculties, Campus, its facilities, course curriculum and a plethora of cultural activities of the institution. A motivational speech was delivered by Prof (Mrs.) Amrita Yadava. She mentioned the importance of Psychology, various new and emerging options, and most importantly she discussed about the role of discipline and human values in today’s competitive world. She then along with Mrs. Aastha facilitated the students with various ice breaking activities throughout the day teaching them creativity, empathy, problem solving etc. We also had sessions from the team of Recreational Society of SGT University. Lastly we had with us the Registrar, PVC, VC of the day to enlighten the students upon the PVC internship held at SGT University.
Day 2: Second day began with a formal session informing the students about their course curriculum, mentor-mentee program, attendance and ERP, internship and placements, and cultural activities and Synergy by respective departments faculty members namely Dr. Nimisha Kumar, Mr. Ashwani, Mrs. Sonia, Dr. Nudrat to name a few. A session on Career and clinical prospect in clinical psychology was taken up by Dr.Nandha Kumar Pujam HoD Clinical Psychology dept SGT University.
Day 3: the last day of the induction program was very interactive and fun filled. It began with movie analysis by Mrs. Aastha and Dr. Vikas, where the students were shown 7 advertisements and two short movies. The aim of movie analysis was to understand the motive of the video psychologically and be able to apply psychology principles into it. The students enjoyed the activity and it was well participated. It was followed by a discussion and debate on few burning topics of psychology and lastly all the students were taken for the campus tour and the induction was concluded with a small motivational video. With the cooperation of the students and the faculty members the Induction programme was able to record the feedbacks of the students and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Prof Rajbir Singh.
