International Women’s Day on 8th March 2016
Women Studies Center under Faculty of Behavioural Sciences celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March 2016, at SGT University. On this occasion, a Poster Making Competition on the theme “Gender Discrimination” and a lecture on “Status of Women in Patriarchal Society” was organized. Dr. Promila Batra, a Professor of Psychology and gender sensitization specialist, MDU, Rohtak in her lecture, emphasized on the crimes against women as a serious issue which is at the core of poor status of women. Prof. (Dr.) Waheeda Khan, Director Women Studies Centre welcoming the guests, participants and the speaker, highlighted the need of education in uplifting the status of women – “Woh Padhegi Who Udegi”. The lecture was presided over by Dr. T.D. Dogra, Pro-chancellor of the university and Dr. Kamlesh Kohli, Director, Medical Sciences was the guest of Honor. It was attended by students and faculties of Nursing, Physiotherapy and Behavioural Sciences. Judges also interacted and appreciated the participant’s effort in Poster Making competition and distributed the certificates. Dr. Nudrat Jahan, Faculty of Behavioral Sciences coordinated the whole event and presented the vote of thanks.
