Orientation Program for New Batch on 9th September 2016
Faculty of Behaioural Sciences organized an ‘orientation program’ on 9th September, 2016 for the new batch of students of B.Sc., M.Sc. Clinical Psychology, and P.G. Diploma in Guidance and Counseling. Three eminent speakers, Prof. (Dr.) Manju Mehta, (Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Holy Family Hospital, Delhi), Dr. Raj K. Srivastava (Psychiatrist, Max Super Specialty Hospital, Delhi) and Dr. Ashima (Practicing Clinical Psychologist, Max Health Care, NOIDA) were invited to interact with the students. Dr. Daleep Singh, PVC and advisor of SGT University lighted the lamp to inaugurate the program and addressed the students. Prof. (Dr.) Waheeda Khan (Dean, FBS) delivered welcome address and introduced the distinguished speakers. Prof Manju Mehta, retired professor of AIIMS shared her experiences of working as mental health professional and emphasized on recognition of yoga for improving mental health. Dr. Raj K. Srivastava explained the role of Clinical Psychologist in promotion of mental health and discussed the future in the field of clinical psychology. Dr. Ashima focused on the clinical skills development and transformation of knowledge in real life problem solving and discussed the need for training in childhood disorders. Students showed great interest and enthusiastically interacted with all speakers. The two hour program ended with vote of thanks given by Dr. Nudrat Jahan, Incharge of the program.
