Dr. Nimisha Kumar

About
Dr. Kumar has a PhD in Psychology from University of Delhi and an MSc in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) as well as a PG Cert in Clinical Supervision from University of Derbyshire, United Kingdom. She is the Founder-President of the Indian Association for CBT (www.iacbt.org), President-Elect of the Asian CBT Association (www.acbta.org) and Founder-Director of Ascend-PsyCare (www.ascendpsycare.in), a private mental health enterprise based in Delhi.
Dr. Kumar specialises in Clinical Psychology, Early Childhood Development and CBT and has over 15 years of experience in practice, teaching and research at prestigious institutions in New Delhi. She has been Assistant Professor at Maulana Azad Medical College and Jamia Millia Islamia. She has also been associated with other prestigious institutes such as AIIMS, NIPCCD, SBISR. She joined FBSC at SGT University in 2018 as an Associate Professor.
She has a keen interest in research and has written papers in Scopus, WOS, UGC-care Indexed and refereed Journals, presented papers at National and International conferences and mentored a number of Masters and Doctoral research dissertations. One of the special focus areas of research of her own research has been the Cultural Adaptation of CBT in the Indian context.
In addition, to her role as an academician, Dr. Kumar practices as a CBT therapist in New Delhi where she uses CBT for a number of mental health concerns and provides training and supervision to students and professionals from diverse backgrounds. She has also organised a number of International Conferences and events, in addition to participating in numerous National and International events.
